HOW DO I CARE FOR MY TREE?

Our well established trees are low maintenance and very robust. All they need is occasional watering, seasonal fertilising and an annual pruning to ensure optimum health and growth.

WHAT CLIMATE, SOIL AND CONDITIONS SUIT MY TREE?

Generally, Olive Trees do best in cool winters with hot dry summers with low humidity. They are tolerant of winds, coastal salt spray, medium frosts and dry conditions.

Technically, Olive Trees love the Mediterranean climate, with ideal temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C. These trees are no strangers to heat, withstanding spikes up to 40°C, but they draw the line at -7°C. As you can see they will withstand anything the Queensland climate has to offer.

HOW MUCH WATER DOES MY OLIVE TREE NEED?

Olive trees in pots should be watered once a week on average. A little more in hot dry conditions. Be careful not to overwater olive trees as this can cause root rot. Planted Olive trees are quite drought resistant.

IS THERE A BEST TIME TO TRANSPLANT AN OLIVE TREE?

While there is no “best“ time to transplant an olive tree, as a general principle, trees do best to be moved when they are dormant and the weather is not severe. In Queensland this means March to June and September to December. Potted olive tress can be moved at any time.
